Manufacturing service providers

For manufacturers and service providers: own the process-selection question.

“Injection molding, thermoforming or CNC for 5,000 enclosures?” “When should I switch from 3D printing to molding?” These questions decide where the RFQ goes. In our pilot, more than half of the citations for process questions came from manufacturers' own guides, mostly smaller shops with clear cost breakdowns rather than the biggest platforms.

Questions engineers ask AI

From our pilot question set

  • “Should I use injection molding, thermoforming or CNC machining for a 5,000-unit polycarbonate enclosure?”
  • “When does it make sense to switch from 3D printing to injection molding?”
  • “What's the best process for overmolding TPE onto a polypropylene handle?”
  • “Which 3D printing process and material survives 120 °C and chemical exposure?”
  • “Which contract manufacturers in the US specialize in medical-grade tubing extrusion?”
  • “What are the best online services for getting injection-molded parts quoted quickly?”

What AI cites today

What our pilot found

52 engineering questions put to ChatGPT and Claude on October 14, 2026, with every cited source traced.

The process question is up for grabs

Manufacturer and service-provider sites supplied 52% of citations on process questions. On the 3D-printing-to-molding question, neither engine cited the large quoting platforms; cost guides and calculators from smaller molders won.

Capability pages get cited by name

Asked for medical tubing extrusion specialists, the engines named between 9 and 28 companies and cited the companies' own capability pages. Each engine produced a different list.

What we do

How we change the answer

  • DFM and cost guides with real numbers: tooling, cycle time, volume breakpoints.
  • Capability pages: materials, tolerances, certifications (ISO 13485, AS9100, IATF 16949, cleanroom class), capacity.
  • Process comparison pages, plus industry and region pages.
  • Share of Answer tracking on the “who should I use” questions.

What you get

  • Share of Answer on process and supplier-discovery questions
  • Source Map, including competitors' guides that are winning
  • A guide and capability-page program
  • Quarterly re-measurement
